The most recent post about “Pollution” was in May 2012. The administrator of website seems to be updating the website every 5 months. The last post was made on May 2012, and one before that was made on January 2012. It is definitely not updated regularly as it updated every 5 months.  The website has been in operation since November 2007. There is no accidental or misleading information on this website.

R-Relevance

This website ended with (.com) which meant it was owned by small company which paid fewer fees. Due to fewer funds, this website did not have search bar in which I could search information about “Iphone 5” or any other topic. I am sure if my topic was about pollution or global warming, they have detailed, sufficient and it was age appropriate info and graphs were reliable on their website.

A-Authority

Just Facts is a non-profit research and educational institute. The two main people of this website are James D Agresti and Stephen F Cardone who are educated and both are researchers, graduated from well credited Universities.  There were only two people listed on the website, although it is an organization. Their website has qualifications and credentials of their academic career.  “James D. Agresti, the president and primary researcher, holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Brown University and has worked as a designer of jet aircraft engines, a technical sales professional and chief engineer of a firm that customizes helicopters. He is the author of Rational Conclusions, a highly researched book evidencing factual support for the Bible across a broad array of academic disciplines.Stephen F. Cardone, the vice-president, holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Brown University and has 20+ years of private industry experience in corporate management, operations, logistics, accounting, and customer service. Additionally, Just Facts’ board of directors, supporters, and contractors are all an integral part of our organization.” (Justfacts.com)

A-Accuracy

The information on the website about environment, pollution, and global warming seemed accurate as it had graphs and chart showing ratio of smoke from vehicles, aircraft industry etc. The information fits perfectly according to my knowledge. The site has complete different section from where they got their graphs, numbers, and information and also it gave credits to the author from where they pulled information from also known as citation section. Peer reviews are not allowed on this website as it is run by organization or by people listed above. The information on this website can be confirmed with any websites provided in the citation section. The website has very professional and informational look. The authors of the website did not use harsh language or emotional language. The information and ratios were not bias. The URL also matches what the site is claimed for.

R-Relevance

This website has more information about politics, civics, and American Government. This website has search bar but when searched for Iphone 5 it gave irrelevant results. I am sure if I searched for Obama vs. Romney, my whole screen would be full with interesting facts and results. When searched for Obama vs. Romney, it gave very detailed articles on this topic as it had popularity results of Obama and Romney. This website is pure facts about politics. Also, the information is appropriate for any age or education level.

A- Authority

Factcheck.orh is a project of Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University and was created by Walter Annenberg who was also a philanthropist. The aim was to create a community within the University of Pennsylvania. The site also has another tab to contact them by email, phone, and their billing address. The website gives information from where it gets their funds. Huge funds were donated by Annenberg Foundation and also other individuals donated to factcheck.org. People who contributed $1000 or more were disclosed on the website. The URL matches the site it claims to be.

A-Accuracy

The information, news, facts on this website seems to be accurate as it confirms with other websites. I don’t really know much about politics but it fits with information I personally know. The website provides references and gives sources. I do not think the website refers to some other form of peer review. The language used on this website is neither harsh nor emotional and it is not bias to the information.

P-purpose

The creators of the site’s main aim is to monitor factual accuracy of what is said by US political officials in the form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews, and news releases. Their main goal is apply journalism and practice of scholarship to increase public knowledge and understanding. They are not trying to sell or advertise. American Politics is very interesting but it takes time to understand. Small mistakes can create a lot of controversies and can stirrup troubles. Since this website purely has news and debates about politics it might stirrup controversies.

Search String (Same Function Different Results)

This assignment was fun, and I was surprised by the results which different search engine emitted from the source. Iphone 5 is an upcoming Apple’s Smartphone device which is rumored to have better features and specifications. I chose this topic to search because, I am a technology freak and huge Apple product lover. I chose Google, Yahoo, and Bing as my search engines. I chose webcrawler, dogpile, and meta crawler as my meta search engines. I think the results from bing.com and yahoo.com matched more then google.com. Almost all results from yahoo.com and bing.com were same as google.com results differed.

I wouldnt prefer to search on meta search engines because it gives different results than the users choice. I searched for Iphone 5, and the results on meta search engines gave results related Iphon 4S which is completely different device. All three meta search engines have similar results just different order in results.

Future Goal

I am a transfer student from Georgia Perimeter College and am attending Georgia State University. My major is Physical Therapy. After I get my Bachelors in Excercise Science, I am hoping to my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Georgia State University. I chose Georgia State University because of many reasons. Georgia State University is ranked 8th in the nation for physical therapy. Research tells that Georgia State University graduates gets employed faster in compare to other Universities. Lasltly, I am plannning to get my MBA after Ph.D., also from Georgia State  University for same reasons.

All About me.

My name is Anik Momin. I was born and raised in India. I came to the United States in 2008. I know six languages, but however I am fluent in English, Hindi, Gujarati and Urdu. I am a proud Muslim living in the United States. Back in India, I never expected to change my personality, fashion style, attitude, and beliefs. But I changed in many ways when I came here to America. For example, I hardly ever do my chores in India. That changed now because I do my chores even without being told. What made me changed myself the most and my perspective of things was being in an American high school. I attended Ducthtown High School and graduated in 2010. High school was a charm. Compared to my Indian school, American teachers were a lot nicer and more helpful. Also, I am transfer student from Georgia Perimeter College.
